The Jean-Genie

Heading down to the shop to hopefully get something done with KUZU's new Spring 2010 line! But, I am so very burnt out (still) from finishing KUZU's last fashion line for Fall. I am thinking that the inspiration I want to draw from is going to be plants and flowers! Something happy, flowing, lots of sheer floral prints, and bright cheery colors! I have many ideas and am actually quite optimistic (which goes against my normal character) for the spring line but, I just can't seem to get started on anything! On top of that, KUZU is also unveiling a Winter accessories line due to come out in January! I know exactly what I am doing for that line, but I am stuck on a brooch idea that has been very difficult to solve.

Despite all my setbacks I must continue to try to get something done while I am at the shop! So, blogging away about what I am wearing is at least somewhat inspirational for me and the line! I mean to be in charge of a shop thats primary focus is to be fashionable and ahead of the trends, I should at least dress the part myself! And I just cut my hair a few days ago and it really brings out this outfit that I am wearing! Especially the Jean-Paul Gaultier leopard spot cardigan! But I would have to say that the best part of this outfit is the vintage Japanese booties all covered in rhinestones and silver studs, complete with a buckle and strap!

I can't stop eating butterfingers!

I am normally very un-photogenic, but I must say this photo came out adequate enough for me! I love this sweater which happens to be a Roberto Cavalli! I wear the shit out of it in the winter months! I am not wearing anything of mention underneath the sweater. The skirt is hand-made vintage sewn from a cute flapper girl patterned fabric and is very fun! However, the zipper needs to be replaced as it tends to fall down when I put strain on it! Not fun when you're working and need to bend down to pick things out of drawers all day! The shoes and socks I got in Japan. The socks are really cut blue-sparkly ankle straps socks that you find at various sock shops everywhere in Japan. And the shoes are from Tsumori Chisato's "walk" Line! They have adorable stuffed mushrooms, acorns and apples adorning the vamp of these flats! It's too bad you can't really see them in this photo.

BOOK READING: Almost done with Gulliver's Travels and about to start, "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov.
LAST MOVIE SEEN: Scanners! by David Cronenberg
LISTENING TO: The Beatles (on random)
CURRENTLY WISHING: for a delicious sandwich!

Fun with Palindromes!

Well here's an outfit that I think is quite charming but in a photo looks somewhat boring. I thought maybe I could liven this outfit up if I did some alterations on Photoshop (which I have no prior experience with) and then it might make for a worthy post. All in all I think it came out better than before and honestly I don't really have many outfits posted anyways! So here it goes:
The suspender skirt is from a clothing collective out of India called Supercraft. Despite the color alterations in the photo the skirt is genuinely red. I bought the skirt at Buffalo Exchange which is also where i purchased my favorite sandals in this picture. As in the photo before, they are hand-made by Jim Barnier, my personal favorite shoe maker! These sandals are so fun and very well constructed out of supple black leather. The shirt I am wearing is one of our shirts from KUZU sans any of my screenprinting. We wholesale are shirts from Alternative Apparel and this one is their "Burn-Out Cap Sleeve Crew in Mushroom". I have an assortment of these Burn-Outs and they are great with American Apparels bandeau bras underneath!
I was a little rushed this morning and forgot to put on the accessories that I usually wear with this outfit, but nonetheless it still looks good!

First documented outfit!

Today I am wearing a hand-embroidered vintage tunic that I purchased at Buffalo Exchange. Also from Buffalo is my awesome futuristic leather and metal (tin?) vintage belt! Worn together with your average leggings and my favorite boots ever! These boots I have owned for over four years and just recently broke in. They were, at first, way too small and it took me that long to realize that I could remove the soles and they would fit perfectly! No more blisters and taping my feet! These are my "zombie apocalypse" boots that are made by hand (I think?) by Jim Barnier. If you ever find shoes by him, I promise they will be your favorites! Very well made!

Welcome to my wardrobe!

This blog is meant to be a visual journey of my daily outfit choices, the good, the bad and the just plain outrageous! My own superficial diary to document just how much i can actually pull off. I would like to think that knowledgeable as i am about current trends, I still have my own style and walk to the beat of my own drum. And maybe through the use of this blog, others too can develop their own sense of style, or at least learn about the many designers and such that I discuss.
